Benefits of AABM for the Therapist

You will feel as though you have performed a dance instead of a work-out. Because of the absence of strain on the wrists, hands and back, the first deep-tissue massage of the day is as strong as the last one. Ashi-Africa Barefoot Massage is a more balanced approach to massage. You will gain strength, knowledge and grace while adding diversity and vitality to your workday, so you can do more of what you love, for many more years.
  • With traditional massage the thumbs, wrists, elbow, shoulder and back are usually the first to give out. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome has cut short the career of many a Massage Therapist.
  • Ashi-Africa Barefoot Massage uses gravity-assisted long, deep strokes with the feet, covering a much larger area, and avoids the small repetitive movements with the hands.
  • Your body-weight is doing all the work, not your hands…therefore reducing therapist burn out
  • There is a healthy pull on the joints that strengthens the joints instead of a pushing and compressing effect
  • It opens up the spine, allowing elongation of the vertebrae, taking years off the lower back from bending over a massage table…just imagine the joy of being able to work client after client and never having to bend at the waist ever again to give deep compression.
  • Weight-loss takes place due to the isometric nature of the massage movements…you will be burning a lot of energy and fat.
  • It is a specialised treatment, and is recognised by the public as such (therefore you can charge more).
  • Even a therapist with a tiny build can give a fantastic deep-tissue massage.
  • Clients are getting the best, deepest, most luxurious massage of their lives, so it is truly a delightful and gratifying experience for both client and therapist
Who can take the Course?
This form of gravity-assisted barefoot effleurage is designed to help any massage therapist who desires to specialise in deep-tissue work without the tremendous strain on their hands and body.

Any qualified body-workers e.g. Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, or anyone who does body-work, including Personal Trainers and Yoga Instructors can participate in this course.

You do not have to have a lot of upper-body strength. There are no height or weight restrictions as long as the massage table can sustain both the weight of the client and the therapist.

Therapists who are small and petite in nature will benefit greatly from this modality. This course is designed to enable any therapist, no matter their size, to deliver safe and effective barefoot effleurage to just about anyone.
